Note de dégustation
Ce riesling brille de mille feux dans une robe jaune paille claire aux reflets verdoyants et argentés. Il déploie des parfums concentrés de pêche, d’abricot, d’agrumes et de fines herbes. En bouche, le vin est serré, profond et complexe, avec des saveurs de fruits jaunes mûrs, des notes végétales, épicées et florales, ainsi qu’une acidité dynamique et subtile. La minéralité intense et la dimension accrocheuse et fondante à la fois aboutissent sur une finale variée, juteuse, épicée et extrêmement longue.

Who can resist this beauty? The explosive nose of yellow peaches and wild blackberries sucks you inexorably into this extremely concentrated, but also incredibly refined and precise dry riesling. A great masterpiece of delicacy and purity, with a finish that doesn’t want to stop pumping out the wet stone minerality. A de facto monopole site for this producer.

The 2023 Riesling Roxheimer Höllenpfad im Mühlberg Grosses Gewächs comes from the core parcel of this red Permian sandstone site, made separately as a GG from 2017 onwards. This was made in old, neutral Doppelstück. Gorgeous savor unites fern, yarrow and tansy, all tingling amidst citrus and a gentle creaminess. Immediate concentration and fluidity characterize the palate, and the citrus impression almost attains a touch of lemon oil, still holding these savory, herbal notions. The 2023 has a sinuous shape, great fluidity, beautiful stoniness and tautness, absolute clarity and direction but with a ton of charm.

Dönnhoff's 2023 Roxheimer Höllenpfad im Mühlenberg Riesling trocken GG is similar to the Höllenpfad 1G but significantly more intense and fascinatingly pure in its concentrated and elegant fruit that intermingles with herbal and almost smoky as well as citric and phenolic notes. It's remarkably complex. Fruit comes from vines more than 50 years old grown in sandstone soils. Dense but juicy and refined in its acidity and salinity, this is an elegant and balanced yet pure, refined and layered Mühlberg Riesling with a playful minerality and serious structure. This full-bodied yet never alcoholic wine develops a long, intense and salivating finish. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in August and October 2024.
Accords mets & vin
Viandes blanches et veau. De même, il s’accorde très bien avec les plats de légumes comme les gratins et les fricassées ou le risotto.
Vinification
Les raisins de riesling utilisés pour ce vin blanc allemand de niveau Grand Cru proviennent des meilleures parcelles de l’excellent vignoble escarpé Roxheimer Höllenpfad, dans l’Ouest de l’Allemagne. Les ceps ont entre 30 et 40 ans. Après les vendanges manuelles sélectives soignées en plusieurs passages, les baies ont été délicatement pressées et le moût a fermenté. L’élevage a eu lieu dans de grands fûts de chêne, pendant au moins six mois sur lies totales, puis deux mois sur lies fines.
