Une fascinante palette aromatique se révèle au grand jour dans le bouquet. Les subtiles nuances fumées garantissent une profondeur mystérieuse, tandis que des accents d’herbes de champs et un soupçon de menthe ajoutent une note rafraîchissante. Cette élégance se poursuit en bouche. Les saveurs fraîches et précises accompagnent une puissance rayonnante admirable. Le sauvignon blanc fait preuve d’une présence minérale remarquable, laquelle promet une nouvelle fois complexité et profondeur !

Full-bodied, silky, hints of ripe gooseberries and peach, well-integrated acidity, fine texture, mineral and salty finish, certain ageing potential.

This has super tangy freshness to the aromas of crushed stones, lemon peel, fresh pineapples and coriander. Sharp acidity, but it’s creamy and caressing, with a medium body and long, mineral finish. From organically grown grapes.

From 40+-year-old vines on chalky marls on a southeast-facing plot with a steep slope that averages 75%, the 2021 Ried Pössnitzberg GSTK Alte Reben Sauvignon Blanc opens with a deep and iodine, very intense and aromatic yet pure and mineral bouquet of bright ripe fruits and crushed stones. On the palate, this is a quite creamy-textured and yeasty Pössnitzberg that underwent malolactic fermentation earlier than the generic Pössnitzberg. The palate is more Burgundian and the acidity is less vibrant here. Instead, there are fine tannins on the nicely bitter finish. It's a rich and powerful but also structured and iodine-inflected Sauvignon Blanc. Tasted as a cask sample in May 2023, it is to be bottled after the 2023 harvest and released in March 2024.

Vinification
Le vignoble autrichien Pössnitzberg, en Styrie du Sud, est principalement composé de parcelles en cuvettes orientées au Sud et de contreforts orientés à l’Est et à l’Ouest. L’inclinaison peut atteindre jusqu’à 75 % ! Après les vendanges manuelles complexes, le sauvignon blanc fermente traditionnellement sur lies naturelles et est élevé durant 24 mois dans de grands fûts de bois.
